Heyyy ;)

This is the post excerpt.

Welcome to Not Your Average Tee Party!

Like many others out there I have decided to give this “I’m making a blog” thing a try. It’s a new year and I am determined to make this MY year. 2017 was a rollercoaster I would like to, not forget because even though it sucked experience is important, move on from it. WAYY on. So here I am, doing only things I am passionate about: learning and loving, essentially, being me, in 2018. I have always had a passion for fashion (LOL) and this was an idea I have played with for some time. What qualifies me to make a blog about fashion you may ask? Here are just a few reasons:

  1. I have ALWAYS loved fashion. I can remember doing sketches of my “clothing lines” since first grade. I even made clothes out of recyclable materials in 8th grade and learned to sew for my senior project.
  2. I am not afraid to try different trends… ie. the butterfly blazer my mom has hated for years but I still have in my closet because what if I go to a bug themed business casual party???
  3. People always tell me they love my outfits
  4. This is the most important; I won best dressed at my high school.

Given these great qualifications, I plan to post at least every Saturday with my OOTW (Outfits of the Week) and any other beauty or health tidbits I want to share. Since this is my blog it is likely I will talk about myself (a real surprise for anyone that knows me) quite a bit and you should expect that I will overshare often as well.

I am new at this so if there is anything I am doing wrong or that you think really sucks let me know. Leave comments with (constructive) criticism or worshipping my awesomeness. I know I am not the best writer and my photos are not magazine quality, but I will continually be working on that. My roommates don’t quite understand what is needed for the “perfect shot” so I am working with bathroom selfies rn, feel free to send an over the door mirror, better lighting, or a photographer my way to improve the quality.

Much love,

Are My Wings Even???

Here it is, part two. This week was a lot better than the last so I have a little bit more to give to you. Wednesday was really a whirlwind. I had a stressful Physics lab experience… I hate to sound this way, but I hate working with people who don’t understand the material on the same level as me. The point of the labs is for you to barely finish or not at all so it is just hard to have to wait for someone else to catch on. Geez, that sounds really terrible of me. I just really like Physics and take it very seriously. Enough of this school talk.

I also went to a social, my first of the year, and had the most mortifying experience of my life at my favorite restaurant, AKA McDonalds, with a random drunk guy. The theme was Mardis Gras which I was extremely appreciative of. I hate going out but I love dressing up. This theme allowed me to get creative, with my outfit and makeup! Surprisingly, I have no purple or gold in my closet. I had two green items and that is what I used to try and create my possibilities.

I had a hard time deciding between these two options but my following (LOL) unanimously picked the second picture. I do not know why I thought I could get a picture of my makeup AFTER I went out. Yet, here I am at 2:30 am.

Look, it looks good still but it definitely looked better before I was in a hot space for 4 hours. I did purple and gold shadows on the top lid and green on the bottom. I went for gold and purple highlighter and purple lipstick. I love having a reason to be extra. For a look at my put together look, check out my Instagram. The link is somewhere on this page LOL.

Saturday I participated in a dance Philanthropy called Sigma Chi Derby Days. Unfortunately, we didn’t place but it was we looked good and had fun. After, the team went out for drinks (not for 20 y/o me, obvi) and dinner so I got to dress up again.

Top, bottom, and shoes all from Forever 21.

Now for my continuation of last week:

Eyes: My one fault is eyeliner. I wish I could perfect the wing but I don’t think there are enough hours in my life for that. In middle school, I was really into colored eyeliner. For Christmas, I used to ask for the like 30 pack of Urban Decay Eyeliners. Now, I stick with fun eyeshadow shades and a nice highlight under my brow and in the inner crease of my eye.

Eyeshadow: Colourpop has been my recent go-to for all eyeshadow. They have such great pigmentation and are SOOO cheap. I have two of their palettes right now: Dream St. Pressed Powder Palette and I Think I Love You Pressed Powder Palette. The next product I buy will be their Super Nova Shadows which is basically liquid lipstick for your eyes. For Christmas, I got the Fenty Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette  and the colors are so fun. I think the shadows could be a little more pigmented but maybe it’s just me because on the Fenty Instagram page they make them look amazing.

Mascara: Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. That’s all I have to say.

Eyebrow: If I’m going out, I like to fill in my eyebrows with a dark brown shade I have from a random old palette and top it off with the Benefit gel. Otherwise, for my day to day life, I just use the Benefit 3D BROWtones Enhancer. It keeps all my hairs and place and keeps my brows pretty natural looking.

Lipstick is the one thing you can put on and it instantly changes everything about you and your day. My top top favorites right now are the Fenty Stunna Lip Paint — Glossier Generation G and Lip Gloss. The Fenty Lip Paint is red but I swear it looks good on every skin tone. I literally make all of my friends try it on and still have not found the person I was like “Naw dawg, that’s a no from me”. AND the wand is shaped very differently from a normal liquid lipstick but I think it helps make the application process so much easier and smoother.

Now, if Fenty is that hot, trendy, and carefree friend, Glossier is the boho chic, trendy, and classic friend. The Generation G is sheer, but buildable, and is super moisturizing. It is great to have in your backpack to liven up your lips with a little color but also keep them healthy. And the Lip Gloss is the LOML. I feel so 90s/early 2000s with how shiny my lips are. I love it and it’s only slightly sticky.

I just got some new Colourpop lipsticks and highlighters in the mail from their huge sale. This was also right around the time the Pantone Color of the Year came out and I dig Ultraviolet which perhaps influenced my purchases. It took forever to get them but they are so beautiful and totally worth it.

Second: without flash

Let’s Mix It Up

I promised a makeup post a few weeks ago, but never really got around to it. What a better time to do it than a week when I was (lightly) dying from another self-diagnosed sinus infection. It’s okay though, I got a Z-Pak and I’ll be well in no time (hopefully).

This is the only photo I managed to take this week!

I don’t want to disappoint my fans so here are the goooods for the week. I have split this into two posts because I didn’t want to overwhelm or bore you with a 20-page paper. Instead, it’ll be two 10-page papers (LOL).

Side note: Am I any good at makeup? Depends on who you’re asking but I do love to do my makeup and experiment with wild colors. However, my skin does not like when I go hard every day, so if I’m feeling lazy, eyebrow gel, mascara, and concealer are my must have’s before I leave.

Pre-makeup prep: I am kinda the worst with my face routine but I do have some regulars.

I like to use Neutrogena Triple-Action Toner. For me, toner needs to have that smell of alcohol and burn slightly so I can tell myself it is working.

Coconut oil is also the most amazing moisturizer ever — it can be used everywhere, literally everywhere — from going in your hair, on your face and body, and even as a mouthwash.

I got a Clarisonic Mia 2 for Christmas. I don’t know if I’m doing this wrong but it really tickles my nose a whole heck of a lot. Otherwise, it works well and I dig it.  I don’t use this every day because it can be too much for my skin. I prefer to wash my face with just water on most days.

PS: The watermelon Glow Mask I mentioned last week has been so amazing to my skin.

Lastly, Unicorn Essence. I have no idea what it actually does to help me but the aesthetic is enough. JK, it smells great, moisturizes, and primes well too.

Face: For my birthday I wanted some new products, so I went to Sephora to get my makeup done. The makeup artist worked for Too Faced so a lot of my products are from there. I’m not mad though because they honestly rock.

For foundation, I use the Born This Way Foundation from Too Faced in the shade warm beige. It’s a medium coverage so it covers the bad but isn’t cakey. If I was able to wear it at tailgates in Florida summer than anyone can make it work and keep it fresh all day.

The Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is honestly the most amazing cover-up in the world. Given the current controversy with the new Shape Tape foundation, I am fairly upset with the company right now. I couldn’t even pick a foundation for myself even though I was super pumped to at least given it a try. I think I’ll just stick with Too Faced, or maybe try Fenty next because it’s Fenty.

Naturally, I have a very round face, so contouring and bronzer are extremely important for me. They make me look chiseled like a Greek Goddess. To help with that I use Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. They have one that is lighter and darker for skin tones other than medium.

Blush adds such a great pop of color and my new go-to is Glossier’s Cloud Paint in shades dusk and puff.

My favorite part of makeup: Highlighter. There is nothing better in life than blinding people from miles away because of the glow coming from your cheekbones. If I am feeling down-to-earth and natural, I’ll go for Colourpop Gimme More! Highlighter Palette. If I’m feeling colorful, I’ll wear Kat Von D’s Alchemist Palette. It has blue, pink, green, and purple and makes me feel like a unicorn. If I want to just be fabulous and boujie AF, I wear Fenty Killawatt.

Ta ta for now,

Better Late Than Never

It’s late I know… I spent all of Saturday cleaning and then when I went to finish writing I had a migraine. In the wise words of my girl, Ally, “I’M DOING MY BEST, SWEATY”.

What are the best days? The ones where we celebrate women. While I try to do this every day, not everyone in this society agrees, so we need a day designated for it. Anyway, it was lovely. Listening to empowering women empower women and marching down University Ave. was incredibly inspiring. Top: Blue cropped sweatshirt with FEMALE across the front from ASOS. Bottom: Pink tye-dye skirt from Forever 21. Hopefully, not pictured, the red sauce I got on my skirt from my breakfast burrito. Shoes: Silver metallic platforms from ASOS. Was I crazy to wear platform shoes to a march? Possibly, but they are actually so easy to walk in it was NBD. I wish I got a picture of my makeup because it was great. Glitter on my eyelids and everything.

It was truly a beautiful day and I was so happy to bare my legs. Jacket: (the) Gap jean jacket. Top: Khaki cow-necked and sleeveless top from Forever 21. I wasn’t sure about this buy, initially, but it is a thin sweater material and so cute on. Bottom: Orange high waisted skirt from the Banana Republic outlet. Shoes: I bought these over the summer because I stupidly didn’t bring any cute heels home from school. I was going on a night out with one of my girlies and found these at TJMaxx. The heels are a woven white, brown and black print. I love them.

I missed home so I had to include Pittsburgh in some way. Top: Simple white cropped top with the, very in, cross detailing in the front. Bottom: High waisted black jean shorts from American Eagle. I thought it was going to be hot today. Guess what, it wasn’t. Shoes: Yes, my socks say “I’M KIND OF A BIG DILL” because you know what, I am. Can’t forget my handy dandy Adidas.

The pictures of this do not do this outfit justice. It was so cute and everyone loved it. Jacket: my favorite jean jacket that is (the) Gap brand. Top: Caramel t-shirt from Forever 21. Bottoms: High waisted green velvet pants from Forever 21.  Shoes: Pink platform sandals from ASOS.

Bonus: I was in a Stroll Off for Sigma Lambda Beta’s Philanthropy. Let me tell you since the 10th grade this has been a dream of mine. We didn’t win or anything but it was so much fun and I wish I could do it all the time. Here are some pics! I’m the one that looks like me (AKA the one that looks the most uncoordinated and lacking any rhythm).

I wanted to wear this sweater so, naturally, my whole outfit became much too complicated. Jacket: a black blazer with flared sleeves from Forever 21. Top: Cropped red and blue stripes sweater with flared sleeves. Bottom: Black high waisted jeans from (the) Gap. Shoes: Black chunky heels from ASOS. Very cute, but are not meant to be walked in from my apartment to the Physics building to work. My feet have been very sad with me.

My only class was canceled so you can bet I looked like a bum for most of the day. BUT, my lovely friend, Ally, convinced me to go to Sephora with her to get ONLY THREE THINGS. Yeah, right. We decided we needed to treat our bodies… so we got face masks and hair masks. And then, I passed by a stand with these water bottles and I needed it. Picture below but it’s so cool looking. And then, I passed by a stand with this moisturizing watermelon sleep mask. It smelled so wonderful, I needed that too. Just tried it for the first time last night and I woke this morning with such soft skin. I cannot wait to add this to my weekly routine.

School is really starting to take off. If I get a little lazy, I am sorry ahead of time. Hopefully, I can make the grades and “stunt” (Do the kids still use the word? Did they ever use this word??) while doing it too.

Much love,

Blizzard Week in Florida

What a week! I got so much love from everyone for my first post. It honestly warmed my heart so much.

This was an interestingly cold week in Gainesville so I think I will post a shorter post about my favorite/go-to makeup later today/tomorrow to make up for what my outfits lacked this week. When it’s cold, all I can think about is fuzzy warmth, so my creativity in picking out my outfits for the week really sucked. Literally, I would wake up and consider if it would be acceptable to wear my fleece robe outside. My eyes would only make contact with soft items. There was no potential.

Before I start, look how cute this picture is. A photographer took it when I went out last week. I feel a little famous.

Two of my sisters and I decided to go to Savannah, GA for the day. We are pretty busy girls and wanted some time away together before we start living in the library full-time. It was a very spur of the moment decision and once we got there and had no schedule planned for the day, we realized we could have made better choices. I am not one usually for spontaneity but it added to the adventure of it and we had a blast being tourists.

See us below in our matching sweatshirts.

Jacket: Clearance rack from Old Navy. Top: Either Marshalls or TJMaxx. I honestly can never remember but they’re both great. Bottom: These pants are honestly to die for. I have never received so many compliments on anything in my entire life. Zara is the place to go for COOL jeans. Shoes: Apparently, I am really into metallic right now (If you didn’t see my post from last week, I wore a metallic silver work out jacket). I have been wanting a pair of shoes with fluffy poms and they were less than $15 from Asos!

Picture this… I sign up for a 1K (yes, 0.62 miles) last Monday. Friday, I actually go to the gym in my apartment to train. I ran over a mile. Not only was it a miracle but I was so sore the next day. As I said above, I was in Savannah on Sunday which involved A LOT of walking thanks to my lovely friend, Christi, who is directionally challenged. Back to the point, I overslept this 1K I signed up for which was at 1 pm. As you can imagine, there was no point in getting dressed after that failure.

This was unexpectedly the warmest day of the week so I was a little overprepared for the day. Top: Chenille sweater from Forever 21. Flannel from Old Navy (Side note: Starbucks had yellow sleeves for their cups for their new Blonde whatever and it was a beautiful accessory to the yellow stripe on my shirt. Bottom: Fleece lined black leggings from either Sam’s Club or Costco. SO warm, too warm that day. Shoes: Black riding boots I got on Black Friday at Macy’s a couple years ago.  Can’t forget to mention my Dance Marathon hat because FTK!!!!

Jacket: This long velvet cardigan gives me life. I can’t wait to put some more outfits together when it gets a little bit warmer. Top: Ruffles and Lavender/(Lilac?), a wonderful combination. Bottom: Overalls from (the) Gap Shoe: my go-to basic shoe –> The Adidas.

I WOKE UP AND IT WAS 23 DEGREES. IN FLORIDA. 100 % unacceptable and 100 % miserable. Jacket: North Face vest from Marshalls. Again, super fuzzy. Top: Thin turtleneck from Old Navy. Bottom: Rust corduroy from (the) Gap. Shoes: My fuzzy Sperry duck boots save my toes when it is cold. This was a 13 hour day for me and I was so happy to finally get back to my apartment and crawl into bed with my robe.

I think my thing may be to take my Thursday pictures in the mirror at work.

Seeing the high was almost 60 degrees, I went all out today. Jacket: Velvet oversized blazer from Forever21. Top: Simple blue shirt with a keyhole detail from Marshalls. Bottom: I stole these jeans from my sister (Sorry, El!) Shoes: Loafers from TJMaxx. Also, excuse the hanger I somehow stomped all over when trying to take my pictures and didn’t notice.

PS: I’m sorry I talk about the weather so much. I LOVE talking about the weather.

Much love,

Attempt #1

This is it… My first real post *wipes tear/sends Snap to commemorate the moment/cries again*

Hey again 🙂 This week I started my spring semester of my junior year and, while I appreciate being out of the Arctic Blast in Pittsburgh, the weather is crazy here. Going from the 50s to the 70s and sun to torrential downpours all on the same day is something I will never get used to.

Top: Simple white button up from the Banana Republic outlet. Vest: On my way to the airport we stopped at Sam’s Club and I found this super cute Green Tea vest. They had blue, green, and purple too, but orange called to me. It is sherpa and SOO soft. Pants: Bought these Levis from one of my sorority sisters. They are cropped and frayed on the bottom but do not have rips in them so I can wear them to work (YAY). Shoes: I got these super cute Tommy Hilfiger slip-on shoes for Christmas. When we bought them we only saw the right foot T, so I did not realize until Christmas day there was an H on the left, but I still LOVE them.

It was supposed to rain so I was all excited to wear my new rain boots… and it was in the 70s and sunny. There’s Gainesville for you. Top: Boys section of the Ralph Lauren outlets in like the 10th grade of high school. But I haven’t found a plaid that has a better print. Also, peep the mesh from this new adorable bra from VS. Way cuter than a cami. Skirt: Just a suede skirt from Forever21. Shoes: Love me some rain boots. Got these with the vest from Sam’s Club run above. Red is such a cute color for these boots.

I’m boujie. I can’t help it. Jacket: Metallic silver activewear jacket from VS during their semi-annual sale. Top: $5 at H&M (before the controversy). I will say that this is a very thin material and it is not a friend to sweat which I did a lot of while wearing the jacket. Bottom: I have been looking for some party pants and I think I found them. These are jeans with faux pearl details on the rolled cuff. Bought on sale from Zara. Shoes: They’re furry and platform! Also from Zara.

I thought I would never wear this jacket to exercise and I surprised myself that very same night. Jacket: Same as the one I wore earlier in the day. Turns out it’s very versatile. Top: Sports bra from VS but super cute crossing detail. Pants: Leggings with the Pittsburgh skyline and mesh along the sides. Funny story: I saw a girl at Target with these and told her how much I adored them. She told me she couldn’t remember where she got them from. Next week, saw them at the Pittsburgh apparel stand in the middle of the mall. So Hmphf. Shoes: These poor Adidas were a great buy but have gone through too many game days. They deserve some time in the wash.

day4 (1)

I woke up feeling really lazy but I had work later in the day so I couldn’t wear shorts or leggings. I picked this out in a rush because, surprise, I was running late to class. I also walked out of work at 5 o’clock and it was pouring. My poor shoes didn’t make the walk back dry. In fact, they are still drying. Jacket: Marshalls or TJMaxx??? It’s suede and so soft and comfy… like a sweatshirt but not at all. Dress: Under $10 on the Banana Republic sale rack. Shoes: Old Navy!!! Possibly the only pair of actual flats I own so very reliable.

I only have one class and woke up again feeling lazy. To try and not let what happened to myself the day before I wore rainboots. And it actually rained. Jacket: This is a sun jacket I bought freshman year to protect my skin in the Bahamas. Has SPF but is not waterproof so that was definitely not the correct choice to make. Top/Bottom: I love a good romper. This one I got from the Platos in Gainesville. It’s like fleece/super soft/sweatshirt material but also super cute, like that back detail! Shoes: Lucky brand ankle rainboots with raindrops.

It’s Slly Week so I had to go out for my, likely, only time this semester. And go big or go home amiright? I was a little apprehensive about this look but it got rave reviews from my ladies. Top: Mesh bodysuit from Zara. Bottoms: Super cute jeans with a black/white side detail. Shoes: Studded platforms from Asos for $16. I was feeling edgy tonight.

That’s it for this week! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my first post. Let me know what other kinds of things you want me to talk about.

Much love,
